Band leader waves at Obama and gets canned!

I just had to post this immediately. This could be one of the stupidest decisions of all time. I know "all time" is a strong claim, but it just makes you wonder what goes through some peoples head. There is this guy named Mr. Coleman who is a hard working fireman in Ohio and happens to be the drum major in firefighters band. He gets the great opportunity to march at the presidential parade and tell his kids about the experience. I would say this counts as one of the coolest things you can do. So apparently they were told that you can't do anything but march and keep your eyes forward. The band manager states that it is military protocol at this type of parade. I do not have a problem with rules even if they are dumb. So as you will see in the video, this guy gets a wave and a nod from Obama and Obama-mama. Now ask yourself....what would you do?

I know it was against the rules, but for Gods sake they man threw a simple wink and a very low key salute. You are throwing a return gesture to the prez. No one was shot, no international relations were threatened and we didn't go on orange alert because of it. That's not even the story!

The guy was given a six month suspension from the band! six months for a wink and a wave. It has caused so much controversy that the guy just said the Hell with it and hung up his uniform. How can stupidity like this run rampant. Sometimes there is a need to just let things go. Rules are important in the military, around heavy machines or when recruiting football players, but a traveling firefighters band. Lets bring sensibility back!
