so what is the difference between a jacket and a coat. I truly admire all those damn little Asiab kids who learn the English language....sort of. Anyway, why is it that we have so many names for virtually the same...well...thing. "It's really cold out you should throw on a coat". If you sent 10 people in to get a coat, you would get 10 different things back.
If we busted down the trailer door of Joe-6-Packs home of sea shell frogs playing the conch shell and Pizza Hut delivery magnets, we would (along with a construction boot broke off in our ass) find a closet full of articles meeting the most basic of definitions for jacket.
We might find any of the following "COATS"
-rain coat
-over coat
-fleece
-wind breaker
-dress coat
-a parka
-a slicker
-a heavy jacket (my mom always referred to the big jackets that way)
What about those famous jackets:
-Members only jacket
- The Masters jacket (what the heck do you do with that ugly thing)
-The old Monday Night Football gold jackets
-The Century 21 yellow jacket
- The straight Jacket
-Jacob and his coat of many colors
-The old famous "the popo will put a jacket on you"....or a record for you rookies
-the flak jacket
Hell even a book has an "Inside Jacket". "Don't get stung by that yellow jacket". You get the picture. Oh well, good luck little Asian boy on those EnGrish lessons.
Until next time.........If your car has a flat in Alabama....JACK-ET up and use the spare!
