GO GREEN DAY...Just read and think about where the plastic bags go.

Well I know that you guys have all heard, and probably ignored for the last decade, that we really need to start thinking about reducing the amount of waste we dump into landfills every year. I have really made a huge effort this year to do my part. Why, you may ask. Whether you believe in global warming or not, you have to admit that the population continues to grow and the amount of land continues to shrink. Now I am not saying that the planet is getting warmer, but I do know that we just can't keep making trash. Living for the past year in a grossly poluted state, my eyes have been opened to what is on the way for us lucky enough to live along the Gulf Coast. Did you know that states are sending their loads of garbage to Alabama and Mississippi because they no longer have room to bury it? Well I love fishing and I love being able to swim at the beach. I love the outdoors and I am smart enough to know that we are headed down a bad road. So here is what I am doing and I hope you decide to do your part. It's time to get involved and do your part. Stop being so damn lazy and do your part!

1. Using one refillable water bottle every day for the gym and to refill at work
2. I actually bought those reusable green/canvas bags for the grocery store. WHY? I decided to go 1 month and collect every plastic bag I brought home.....29 bags just from Kroger...thats 348 plastic bags a year I am contributing to the land fill or the ocean. Just do the math...if 50% of the population of Mobile County shops simialer to me (and you know they buy more than a poor guy) thats 87 million bags bieng buried somewhere...I repeat 87 million for just half the population of our little city...try expanding that out to the state!
3. Hoping Alabama jumps on the plan of many other U.S. cities that are banning the use of the dreaded "Walmart Bags".

Or perhaps if you cannot bring yourself to stop bringing home the plastic bags -recycle them properly or DONATE THEM!! Animal shelters go through hundreds a week for our volunteers to walk our dogs with so we can properly clean up after dogs & keep the neighborhood clean!
And while you're taking the time to drop off your "poop bags", go walk a dog!

You tree hugger!!!!!!!! I for one am not giving up my plastic bags nor will I be recycling them. Oh by the way did you see that the new thought by climatologist is that we are headed for an ICE age. Thats right the exact opposite of global warming.

I had no illusions about you going eco-friendly...but thats
ok because if I do ....thats 50% Dean participation...thats hitting 500 baby!

i dont really buy into the whole global warming thing...I just do my part for the Earth Day stuff that doesn't require a PHD in climate science. I can see garbage, I can't see climate radar data crap. So I just limit my garbage...easy and that means I can bitch when people complain about landfills. I do piss others off because trees grow back and I aint reusing copy paper....and I aint unplugging my stuff everytime I leave the house.
