Seth Harp and Issac fired from WNSP. WOW
So I did some digging after I heard Paul on the air today and found out I was out of the loop. Looks as if Timmy Camp has struck again. Why is this man running WNSP? First he pisses everybody off by getting rid of Neal Mccready for not bowing to the Bama nation and spouting off how many national championships they have and how Joe Willy was the greatest of all time. I will tell you that sports drive went down hill like a ball of turds after Don and Mcready left. Who can remember how great that show was? It's not sports that drive that show, it is the personalities. What made that show great back then was the fun stuff...the humor. You just can't talk for three hours about sports and they made guys sit in parking lots for 15 minutes once they arrived at their destination. When they left, the mayday signal went out.
Flash forward to this past year and we were greeted by the new face of WNSP....Seth Harp. He was a young guy with lots of new ideas to turn the show into another Jim Rome style canned piece of crap. He was not funny, he was way to arrogant and he had little respect for the callers. The show became a pre-rehearsed snooze fest. He would go on a tirade every time someone had their radio turned up. HEY Seth maybe if you could get the show to play while the caller is on hold they wouldn't have to sit with their trigger finger on the volume button! He would go off on callers calling them dumb rednecks or homer goobs. He would hang up on people for getting his name wrong. The worst part was having to listen to Issac recite the "3 golden rules" before you got on the air. "Remember caller, don't say you are going to hang up and listen, only ask one question/comment and turn down your radio". Anytime someone would disagree with Seth he would make the statement "this is why we don't let callers dictate the program". Well last I checked, the callers were the program. I don't think Seth was a bad guy, even though you could tell he was kissing up to Camp and all the Auburn bashing sponsors. He just wasn't the guy for this market. It reminded me of a guy who came up with his version of the greatest sports show and was bound and determined to make you hear it. That being said, at least it was still local sports drive.
Pat Greenwood is a good Tv man. Everyone like him and he is one of those guys you just cant say anything bad about. that was his biggest problem. Pat was like the non-controversial side kick. He was always along for the ride as the color guy who's job was just to back up Seth. He was very dull but at least he wasn't bashing on callers.
Even though the show was not near what it once was, we still had an outlet to actually call in and talk without the 2 hour wait you get from Paul. Tim Camp made it sound like the decision came down to sponsorship or lack there of. Well after boasting about the mega ratings the show was getting and the fact that the "Miller Lite Golf Show" is still on the air, I find it hard to believe that the afternoon sports drive was lacking in add sales. I can not name one person who does not listen to the show Tim. So why was the show canceled? Hell even Chuck Floyd could get sponsor money. All i know is that Jay Tate from the Montgomery Advertiser threw a little mud on Tim Camp over at the HABOTN recently.
Well Tim Camp, I hope you enjoy the ratings now because Paul just will not make me tune in very much and I doubt he is going to provide me with my daily dose of SCOOTER PUMP. Actually, the saddest part will be not getting a chance to hear from Mobiles favorite son in the afternoon. So Scooter....I bid you farewell with a big WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
I hope that some smart person in Mobile has the guts to find a station that will put together a great caller focused sports show. Until then we will be forced to just wait until Tim Camp retires.
until next time....I wish Seth and Issac all the best in finding the right place for their talent
